Bihar State University Service Commission (BSUSC) has released an official notification for recruitment to the post of Assistant Professor for 3687 vacancies for appointment as Contractual Faculty in various subjects in universities of Bihar including 211 newly constituted Rajkiya Degree Colleges of Bihar. All eligible candidates apply online through the official BSUSC website bsusc.bihar.gov.in from 03rd July 2026 until the applications closing date 15th July 2026 for Assistant Professor recruitment 2026.
Total Vacancies
A candidate should have minimum 55% marks at the Masters' degree or equivalent. Relaxation of 5% marks for SC/ ST/ BC (NCL)/ EBC (NCL) Candidate of the State.
In addition, the candidate must have either:
Qualified the National Eligibility Test (NET) for Assistant Professor conducted by the UGC/ CSIR or any other test accredited by the UGC; or
Been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with the provisions of the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016, and shall be entitled to exemption from NET in terms of the UGC Regulations and amendments issued from time to time.
Further Provided that the candidates registered for the Ph.D. programme prior to implementation of UGC Regulation 2009, shall be governed by the provisions of the then existing Ordinances/Bye-laws/Regulations of the Institution awarding the degree and such Ph.D. candidates shall be exempted from the requirement of NET/ State Level Eligibility Test (SLET/ SET) conducted by the Bihar government or on its behalf for this purpose subject to fulfilment of the following condition:
The Ph.D. degree of the candidate has been awarded in a regular mode;
The Ph.D. thesis has been evaluated by at least two external examiners;
An open Ph.D. viva voce of the candidate has been conducted;
The Candidate has published two research papers form his/ her Ph.D. work, out of which at least one is in a refereed journal;
The candidate has presented at least two papers based on his/ her Ph.D. work in conferences/ seminars sponsored/ funded/ supported by the UGC/ ICSSR/ CSIR or any similar agency.

The merit list is prepared on the basis of academic qualification and Interview-cum- Demonstration. In event of total marks obtained from academic qualification and interview being the same, candidate having higher marks in academic qualification shall be placed higher in the final merit list.
